Henna looks different on everyone. Body chemistry, temperature and location on the body have a lot to do with how dark the stain will be. The skin on the hands and feet stains much darker than the softer skin on the upper arm or back. Henna stains are darkest during the first 7-10 days, and then gradually fade.
Please make sure your desired area is clean and dry before application.
Carefully with a pair of scissors snip a small section off the tip of the Henna Cone. Apply the Henna by gently squeezing the henna cone from the middle to the desired area of body. Most people prefer to hold the henna cone like you would hold a writing pen.
LEAVE PASTE ON AS LONG AS POSSIBLE
It is recommended to leave the paste on at least 5-6 hours or more. Leave paste on overnight for best results. The longer the paste stays on the skin, the darker the stain will be.
After the first 45 minutes to hour once you think that the henna has started to dry but not crack, dab a piece of cotton in sugar and lemon juice apply lightly on the designs so the henna further darkens to a reddish-brown hue that can last for weeks. (It’s good to repeat this as many times as you can before allowing the henna to completely dry)
Once the Henna is dry it will start to crack and fall off the applied area, carefully remove all Henna without using any liquid. You can do this with your fingertips by gently brushing off the dried Henna. Do not wash the applied area at this stage.
Use olive oil to lightly massage over the applied area and leave for approximately an hour, this again will help darken the Henna stain
Then finally rinse with warm water
HEAT AND MOISTURE HELP
The warmer the body temperature, the faster the henna will stain. If you are cold, try drinking something hot before you start. Gently steaming the area while the paste is on also helps.
Apply some kind of natural oil or butter after the paste is removed to protect henna design and prevent exfoliation. A lot of stores use moisturisers containing chemicals that can prematurely lighten the stain, so it's best to use something natural. Avoid moisturisers with fruit acids (Alpha-Hydroxyl Acid) or bleaching agents.
Please remember, henna body art is not an exact science. Everyone stains differently due to countless variables. If you follow the above guidelines, your henna stain should last 1-3 weeks depending on body location and after-care.
The longer you leave the Henna the more darker finish look you will achieve.
Everybody has different skin types and skin tones this means that some people will take more from the Henna dye than others.
Even though we only use natural organic ingredients, we still recommend that you apply the Henna to a small area first and leave for 24 hrs.
If you are not going to be using the Henna Cones straight away then please refrigerate or freeze them as soon as possible. Remember for best results use as soon as you can.
Always try and keep the applied area warm as possible for a Darker finish.
For best results try and keep the Henna on the applied area of skin moist as possible, this will help the Henna to release into the skin for longer.
Also PLEASE be aware many other Henna cones available today on the market have strong chemicals such as PPD normally found in Henna dye. This can be very harmful to all skin types and can cause permanent skin damage.
